Six Inducted Into O.A.

On Saturday night, five Scouts from Troop 129 were inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national honorary society, at Camp Big Mac: Robert A., Alex E., Jackson S., Zach R., and Alexander K.  Also inducted was Mr. Ed Kruska. They became members of the OA after completing the Ordeal, a weekend of service, reflection and ceremonies. The ceremonial team included three 129ers who already were OA members: Henry E., Robert B. and Joseph Lepak. Congratulations and great work by all!

Troop meeting at Chinquapin Pool

Dear Scouts and parents, a quick reminder that this Tuesday we will have our meeting at 7.00 pm at Chinquapin pool. We will perform the Summer camp required swim tests to our scouts from Moose and Hyppo patrols and then we will spend the rest of the time swiming and playing there.

Shenandoah River Troop Canoe Trip May 10-12

When: May 10-12, We will meet at WPC at 6 pm and depart when ready. Return time is Sunday morning 1 pm.

Cost: $75 per scout/adult

Where: Shenandoah River between Luray and Bentonville, VA. We will be using Downriver Canoe Company, located in Bentonville, off Indian Hollow Road. We will be driving to and parking until departing at their private campground, located off US 340 just north of Luray, VA. Fastest route is I-66 to US 55 West to US 340 South. More precise directions provided to drivers at departure time. The campground is 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Alexandria, depending on traffic. Outfitters will shuttle us as needed from the campground.

Joseph Elected O.A. Vice Chief

On Saturday, Joseph L. was elected vice chief of membership and finance for Amangamek-Wipit Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. In this position, he will be one of the senior youth leaders overseeing the operation of our council's OA lodge, which is the largest in existence and one of the most vibrant and active. Congratulations Joseph!
